At around 1:30 a.m., Lafayette Police Department officers responded to an armed robbery of a convenience store in the 600 block of E. Kaliste Saloom Road. The clerk told officers that 28-year-old Nathan Sonnier entered the store, picked up a beverage from the cooler and approached the counter. The clerk said Sonnier then produced a handgun and demanded the money from the register.

Sonnier fled the area on foot with the cash, the beverage and a pack of cigarettes, but he did not evade capture for very long.

According to LPD Spokesperson Paul Mouton, a short time after the robbery police were notified by a Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office deputy of a suspicious person in a hotel parking lot near the convenience store.

The LPD said they were notified of a suspect sitting next to his vehicle waiting on his mother, due to the fact he had locked his keys inside of his vehicle.

Mouton said the deputy identified Sonnier as the robbery suspect, and police were called. Mouton said an officer investigating the scene was called and used video from the robbery to positively identify Sonnier.

Japan is known for their high tech toilets with remote control, heater, soothing sounds and sprays, but seems like their fascination with lavatory has taken a new turn. Japanese company INAX teamed up with Austrian jeweller Swarovski to build a $130,000 crystal lavatory. The lavatory is studded with more than 72,000 pieces of Swarovski cut crystal and is on display in a showroom in Tokyo's posh Ginza shopping district.

In a nod to traditional belief, the sparkling toilet was created to please the "god of toilets," said Kazuo Sumimiya, director of the showroom for the Lixil interior fixture company of which INAX is a part.

"In Japan, we believe a deity exists in the toilet. That's why keeping toilets clean and taking good care of it have been a Japanese custom since long ago," he added.

"If we were to sell it, it would probably be worth around 10 million yen."

Visitors admired the dazzling fixture, with one woman saying she'd like to invite her friends and hold a party around it.

But others said it might be a bit too exalted to be useful.

"It'd be hard. I don't think I'd feel comfortable enough to use it even if I had this at home," said 22-year-old Chikako Kawanami, an art museum receptionist.

The toilet will be on display until the end of December.

Donna Eljammal, a 26-year woman, has become Sweden's first police recruit in a hijab as she considers her traditional Muslim hijab as an asset rather than a hindrance for a future career. The ban on police recruits wearing a veil, a kippa or a turban as part of their regular uniform was lifted just 5 years ago.

”If anything it is a reflection of the multicultural Sweden we live in today,” Eljammal told The Local.

However, Donna Eljammal has known since she was a little girl that she wanted to be a police officer.

”I like working with people, helping people, and to not do exactly the same thing everyday. I always knew it would fit my personality,” she said.

”And it shows the public another side of women choosing to wear the veil, that we are not oppressed but can be strong and independent women.”

Before being accepted into the police academy, Eljammal worked for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården).

Wearing a veil never constituted a problem there either, and she always felt she was well treated and respected by the other members of staff.

Eljammal thinks that it is an asset in all professions today to have staff with different cultural and religious backgrounds.

”The veil shows clearly that I have first hand knowledge of a different aspect of Swedish society,” she said.

Kanden Jones might be just 4-year old but he is brave enough to save his grandfather Carl Jones' life while the two have gone on a massive deer lease in Liberty County (near Houston, Texas). They were spending a guy day when his Carl's blood sugar became low and he passed out. Kamden was able to save him by using an iPhone and contacting the family.

It's a cozy night for Kanden and his Paw-Paw, Carl Jones; a far cry from what they experienced on Saturday. Carl Jones was near death, and with no one around, it was up to Kanden to do something.

"I called that button, but it wasn't working so I called that button," Kanden said. "I pressed the camera button"

Whether he knew it or not, Kanden was recording a video. On it, you could see Kanden as he was running through the woods. You could hear Kanden whimpering and you can see Carl Jones lying on the ground

"I was just running back and forth. I wasn't afraid of nothing," said Kanden. "I was crying cause I wanted my parents."

Kanden and his grandfather were on a massive deer lease in Liberty County. A picture was taken earlier in the day inside the deer stand. They'd gotten there at 6am and by 10 in the morning were ready for lunch. That's when Carl realized he was woozy.

"My diabetes, my sugar got too low and I knew it was starting to get low. That's why we was going back to camp," said Carl.

They never made it, Carl passed out and Kanden couldn't wake him up.

Kanden had inadvertently redialed his parent's phone number already logged into the iPhone and told his father Paw-Paw was sleeping.

"I said, 'He's asleep?' He said, 'Yeah.' And he kept yelling to my dad, 'Hey Paw-Paw, Daddy wants to talk to you, Daddy wants to talk to you.' And I knew because of my dad's diabetes that something was wrong," said Jarret Jones.

Kanden's parents and other family members drove immediately to the deer lease. On foot and hollering, it took a frantic two hours before they found Kanden.

"I said, 'Bubba if you hear us, you have to holler back and let Mommy know.' Two seconds later he says, 'Momma, I'm right here,'" said Tiffany Jones.

Carl was found lying on the ground a few feet away.

"I think somebody, I just really think it wasn't my time to go. I think the good Lord was telling me, Carl you need to wake up," he said.

They said daughter of accused Zainab, from her first husband, went missing some two days ago and she along with her husband came to police station for registering a report.

The police was still clueless to ascertain the motive behind his killing as accused Bibi, who nominated her nephew Zaheer in her daughter’s missing report, killed her husband with the help of the same nephew.
